The Senate is composed of senators, each of whom represents a single state in its entirety, with each state being equally represented by two senators, regardless of their population, serving staggered terms of six years;

To be elected, a representative must be at least 30 years old, a United States citizen for at least nine years and an inhabitant of the state he or she represents.

U.S. Congress

Elected to a two-year term, each representative serves the people of a specific congressional district by introducing bills and serving on committees, among other duties.

To be elected, a representative must be at least 25 years old, a United States citizen for at least seven years and an inhabitant of the state he or she represents.
